Benefits and Ongoing Support for TAN Members
Our network provides a framework for working cooperatively. It delivers the capacity for members to innovate or solve issues together in a way that can be difficult on their own.
TAN is first and foremost a collaboration of the diverse range of mature later life learning organizations in Ontario. They work together to support each other, and advocate for later life learning in Ontario.
Facilitated by the Network’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee, TAN members help each other with:
- Finding speakers and programming ideas
- Idea exchanges on ‘hot’ topics such as marketing, social media, partnering, volunteer recruitment, technology
- Establishing task groups to tackle more complex issues like copyright, privacy, governance
- Providing mentorship around specific issues
- Gathering and sharing data, such as speaker honorariums, types of programming, registration systems, etc.
“We have always enjoyed being part of TAN. But during the pandemic, being a TAN member kept our program alive. With help from other groups and idea exchanges, we were able to get online, train speakers on Zoom and get back to providing programs quickly so we could maintain contact with our subscribers. The benefits of being a member of a network were obvious – we couldn’t have done it alone!
