Sue Hesjedahl, Executive Director of the Older Person Centres’ Association of Ontario (OACAO), was the lunchtime speaker. OACAO is a leader in the development of quality resources, services and support for over 250 community-based older adult centres across Ontario, created to enhance the quality of life for older adults.
Sue described both OACAO and TAN members as part of Ontario’s healthy aging ecosystem, and that many OACAO strategies, activities and members that align well with those of TAN members. She suggested that finding ways to collaborate and partner would be beneficial, for example through collaborative events, resource fairs, the Links2Wellbeing program, their annual conference (this year featuring Dr. Bill Randall – reimagining aging, in Reimagine, Redefine, Rediscover).
Sue also talked about doing grassroots development with segments of our community – low income or diverse groups to engage them in learning, and about Seniors Loneliness Awareness Week, June 15-21, with Genwell.
