TANCONNECTS – March 12, 2026

Welcome to Our New Newsletter

sandy

I am excited to welcome you to TAN’s new newsletter!  It’s been designed to be an easy way to share useful information to anyone across the Network helping to promote later life learning.

The newsletter will bring a variety of topics that will engage, educate and empower our journeys whether our groups are urban or rural, large or small. Just follow the links in the newsletter to TAN’s new website or sources for more fulsome information. Be sure to share the newsletter with your volunteers.

We also encourage you to make this newsletter work for you by reaching out to editor Sheree Meredith (newsletter@thirdagenetwork.ca) to provide feedback and ideas for content that is relevant and meaningful for you.

She will make it easy to contribute to future newsletters.

Happy reading,

Sandy

MEMBER EVENT

Moving Forward Together

The TAN Symposium returns! Our first opportunity to meet in person since the last Symposium in 2019. Please join us on Saturday, May 2 at the Holiday Inn Suites Oakville @ Bronte.

We are so excited to invite you to a fabulous day of speakers, break-out sessions and many opportunities to meet colleagues who are devoted to later life learning in Ontario. The program will focus on issues that TAN members are grappling with and provide opportunities to share experiences with one other.

An outline of the day’s program can be found here

Speakers include:

  • Dr. Rachel Savage, scientist, researcher and assistant professor of health policy, leading research on social connectedness and aging in place;
  • Sue Hesjedahl, Executive Director of Older Adults Centres’ Association of Ontario, and
  • Sammy Feilchenfeld, Senior Manager, Learning at Volunteer Toronto.

Idea Exchanges and Coffee Chats provide a forum for TAN members to explore topics of shared interest to member groups across the province. The sessions are offered online using Zoom and are free of charge.

We Want to Hear From You!

We need your input as to what information would be most useful to include in this newsletter.

As well, in future editions we intend to include a section with your questions or experiences “From the Front Lines”. One of the benefits of membership in TAN is having a network of peers with whom one can share successes, resources, questions and ideas. For example: Are you searching for a resource or strategy? Do you have a recent success story that you would like to let others know about? Or perhaps a “never again experience” that others could benefit from hearing? Please send them along!

Drop a short note with a 3-4 sentence description, your name and contact info as well as your organization’s name by email to newsletter@thirdagenetwork.ca

Our goal is to ensure that the newsletter provides value to all our members. Your input is key.

Until next time, keep well.

Sheree Meredith (TANconnects editor)
